20 Settembre reflects upon the influence that the lives of our predecessors have had on our present, imagination and memory, as if they were our own previous lives. As trauma is transmitted from generation to generation, exploring its origins helps us better understand and foresee the future. In this film memories, thoughts, images, synesthesia and recollections become the means to investigate a family mystery.
