Il Capitone
2024
Set in Napoli, Il Capitone offers a glimpse into the daily life of Vanessa, portraying the struggle to claim her place in the world. Vanessa’s coming-of-age story runs through mundane and dreamlike states, sensual dances and songs of salvation. Il Capitone touches the depths of her existence—as well as that of her mother Lina and her lifelong friend Ciro— celebrating their quest for redemption through self-expression and performing arts. The film’s intent is to give them the chance to represent and express themselves in total freedom. The writing of the film is also the result of a collaborative effort: Vanessa, Lina and Ciro helped stage all the sequences, bringing their talents into play.
